Biden: The United States does not rule out the use of force as a last resort against Iran.

On the evening of 13th local time, US President Biden, who was visiting Israel, said in an interview with local TV channel 12 that the United States did not rule out the use of force as the last resort against Iran.

According to local Israeli media reports, Biden said in an interview on Iran’s nuclear issue that he thought that former US President Trump’s decision to quit the Iranian nuclear deal was a huge mistake, which brought Iran closer to possessing nuclear weapons than ever before. Biden said that the United States can still reach an agreement with Iran to reduce its nuclear program while taking action.

Biden also said that the United States will still keep Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on its "terrorist organization list", even if Iran refuses to re-sign the Iranian nuclear deal.

Earlier on the 13th, Iranian President Leahy criticized the "extreme pressure" of the United States. He believes that it is impossible for the United States to talk to the Iranian people in the language of force. The United States should learn from the past and not always repeat the failed policy of "extreme pressure" on Iran.

In July 2015, Iran reached a comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue with the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany. According to the agreement, Iran promised to limit its nuclear program and the international community lifted sanctions against Iraq. In May 2018, the United States unilaterally withdrew from the agreement, and then restarted and added a series of sanctions against Iraq. Since May 2019, Iran has gradually suspended the implementation of some provisions of the agreement, but promised that the measures taken are "reversible".

In April, 2021, relevant parties in the Iranian nuclear deal began to hold talks in the Austrian capital, Vienna, to discuss the resumption of performance between the United States and Iran, and the United States indirectly participated in the negotiations. The eighth round of negotiations was launched in Vienna on December 27th, 2021. On March 11th this year, borrell, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, announced that the negotiations were suspended due to "external factors". On June 28-29 this year, under the coordination of the European Union, Iran and the United States held indirect negotiations in Doha, Qatar, and no significant progress was made.
